I didn’t finish it in time for the national Modern Guild Challenge deadline, but I did participate in my local Modern Guild chapter’s “Madrona Road Challenge”. The challenge was to use the fabrics we were given, fat eighths from the Madrona Road line of fabrics, and only add solids to make a completed modern quilt. I put together the top rather quickly, but decided to let this one take more than a week and quilted it like crazy. It’s a largish wall-hanging. (more…)

I finished my Project Quilting Challenge Quilt early this week!! It’s not due ’til tomorrow! But there’s not a single thing I want to change on it, so here it is…The challenge: take a printed magazine publication, turn to page 28 and make a quilt inspired by it. Cool! I chose National Geographic, my favorite magazine for pulling out fabulous photography. (My dad started me on my inability to throw away Nationals G’s just in case I could cut out a good picture from one and make a collage or other art project!) Well, that impulse served me well in this case.

I finally finished a big one!!! I started this last summer, so it was not a quick project, and I’m very proud to have finally finished Brennan’s “big boy” quilt. Not that he hasn’t been in a regular bed for a while, but this is the first bed-size quilt I’ve made for him since he has. It matches new curtains I made for his room last summer. (I know, don’t you usually make the curtains after the quilt?!) (more…)

I worked on my “Madrona Road Challenge” for the Modern Quilt Guild last night. I doubt that I’ll finish anything by the Jan 31 national deadline, but our local guild gave us until March, so I’m going to keep at it.

Anyway, I just have to show you what I did last night…it made me squeal!

Project Quilting Challenge Entry 4:2, the theme: “My Favorite Color,” the challenge: to use only one color and white in your project.

I fell in love with this embroidery pattern on Sunday morning and couldn’t think of anything else I’d rather spend the week working on. So I literally worked on it all week…when I was picking the boys up from school, while watching tv in the evenings and even a little in my lunch breaks. It took a bit longer than I thought it would, but I still really love the design and how it turned out! (more…)

Hi Friends! Did you miss me? It’s been a long time since I posted anything on this blog, so I hope I haven’t lost you, my dear readers, but I just didn’t feel like blogging and didn’t see the point of making myself blog. Now I’m starting to feel like it again, so I’m going to see how long that lasts. Project Quilting just started up again and I was just sewing with my small group and we had big plans for challenges for the year to come, so hopefully I’ll find plenty to write about!

But really, I never have a lack of sewing projects to write about!! I mean come on!

I’d like to start getting back into things by telling you about the awesome Christmas I just had; full of homemade/handsewn gifts. I found lots of inspiring projects in books and magazines and online tutorials that I’d like to share with you! (more…)

I may just be a little nuts, but I just found another thing in my home that needed a quilt…my George Foreman Grill! I have been eating grilled sandwiches almost every day for lunch and trying to wedge it back into a high corner of my cupboard after every meal…usually causing a crash down of a few spices in the process. So I decided to keep the thing on my counter. But its just not pretty enough for that. (more…)
